Volunteer Assistant Coach

Summary

The Volunteer Assistant Coach supports the mission of Sports Quest by helping keep players safe, assisting with tasks, and participating in soccer training and devotional time under the leadership of the Contracted Head Coach. Their success is measured by having a teachable spirit and actively engaging in all areas of each session.

Prerequisite: None required

Availability: The coach is encouraged to commit to, but not assigned to, 1 or multiple locations upon their availability and the needs of the ministry (Fall/Spring). The coach signs up to commit to a minimum of 1 and up to 15 camp week locations, depending on their availability, consisting of 3 to 4 days of sessions (Summer). 

Curriculum: Assist in setting up and tearing down soccer equipment and transitional activities as planned by the Contracted Head Coach. Observing and assisting with a teachable spirit during soccer drills and Biblical devotional periods. 

Build Christ-like Relationships: Encouraged to have Godly conversations with their fellow Sports Quest personnel and players within each session while staying professional and welcoming to build long-lasting relationships. 

Expectations for Assistant Coaches

  • Godliness: reflects a humble, trustworthy, and respectable character based on Biblical values.
  • Integrity: Act with honesty, fairness, and a strong moral compass in all interactions and decisions.
  • Excellence: Strive to achieve the highest standards of performance and quality in all tasks and responsibilities. 
 
  • Coach is directly supervised by the Program Coordinator and the Contracted Head Coach.
  • Attend and complete all mandatory orientations and trainings before each season (Summer/Fall/Spring) 
  • Very familiar with safety protocols and supporting safety standards (training provided)
  • Performance during and outside a scheduled session reflects a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. This is assumed through an individual commitment to a church community, Bible reading, and prayer.
